Presenting…
About a year removed from his sophomore album ‘Eternal! Eternal!’, and about a year removed from Melbourne, Australia, Jack Phemister has roused some songs from their slumber to be set loose on ye unsuspecting rabbits.
‘Sleeping Dogs’ sets guitars squealing, and voices careening across the rock & roll super highway, chasing down an optimistic demise in a burnt out ute on a cliff overlooking the sea somewhere. Phemister’s distinctive guitar playing is louder than ever, drenched in fuzz & flangers, checking anxiously over it’s shoulder for tomorrows headache.
Taking influence from The Drones & Melbourne’s rock & punk scenes, ’Sleeping Dogs’ is a micro selection of favourites from Phemister’s live sets over the years. Phemister plays all the instruments on 2 new original numbers, and is joined by previous bandmates Micah Heathwood & Jesse Dowley (dogworld) on a bonus Fiona Apple cover. The collection was assembled haphazardly in bedrooms in Melbourne & Prague, and is the sort of nostalgic drunken love letter one only writes after they move halfway across the Earth.
